Functional Aquatic Luxury Art Installation
Welcome to Original Finn - the one-of-a-kind functional aquatic art installation hand-crafted by Australian creator and entrepreneur Craig Finn. Bringing luxury art and ingenious design together, this extraordinary coffee table blurs the line between the aquatic world and reality - where everyday living meets the quiet wonder of life beneath the surface.
Born in Perth and now calling Cairns home, Craig Finn is a man of few words, a dry sense of humour and a quiet habit of poking at societal expectations. His unassuming manner gives little away about the mind behind Original Finn.
With a background in plumbing and building, engineering studies and self-taught CAD skills, Craig brings a wealth of practical knowledge to his creations. His résumé, however, tells a deliberately less impressive story. Listing talents such as “water stuff” and “thinking and procrastinating about my feet,” it’s his tongue-in-cheek attempt to discourage potential employers—and preserve his time for more important pursuits.
For Craig, the finer things in life aren’t things you buy. They’re things you build. This ambitious passion project was conceptualised 30 years ago. Original Finn began six years ago on the bar deck of his humble home, affectionately known as “the commune.” It has since become the focus of countless hours, hard-earned money and an unwavering determination to bring something extraordinary into existence.
Watch Original Finn take shape. Measuring 1.6 metres across and 50 centimetres high, it holds 156 litres of water in the display tank, supported by an additional 80-litre reservoir. A super-clear toughened glass tabletop.
